We are delighted to announce that Muthoni Muchiri (Noni) has joined The Haller Foundation as our new Chair of Trustees.

Noni is an award-winning Kenyan journalist and storyteller with over a decade of experience covering Africa’s rich and complex narratives - from politics and business to culture and everyday life. Her past work includes producing and presenting on ‘Africa Daily’, the BBC World Service podcast that brought daily African stories to global audiences.

In March 2025, the Haller Farmers App received the Environmental Impact Award at the 9th Digital Leaders Impact Awards. This feature explores how the app is transforming access to regenerative agriculture for smallholder farmers across East Africa.

As part of Haller's 20th Birthday Celebration, we hosted a panel discussion addressing Africa’s population boom and its global implications. This thought-provoking session was chaired by journalist David Eades on Friday 20th September 2024, and hosted at Mondrian Investment Capital, London. On the panel sat Ed Paice, author of" Youth Quake: Why African Demography Matters to the Rest of the World", Noni Muchiri of BBC World Service, Jessica Hagen-Zanker from the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) and David Ngome, Haller Foundation trustee and development communications consultant at the International Fertiliser Development Centre (IFDC).

The Haller Foundation announces our partnership with Tsavo Trust officially! A renowned organisation dedicated to wildlife conservation and enhancing the livelihoods of local communities in Kenya. We're working to utilise technology enhance education, support communities, and protect wildlife in Kenya's Tsavo Conservation Area.

We’re delighted to launch a refreshed version of our award-winning Haller Farmers App, now available to download on the App and Google Play Stores.

Through white labelling, the technology underpinning the Haller Farmer’s app’s functions can be adopted by other charities around the world, but the information on the app can be adapted to reflect the needs of smallholder farmers in that region.

Studies have demonstrated the increased penetration of mobile technology across Africa. But to build a more up to date picture, specifically focused on the use of technology in agriculture, Felix Young set out to survey smallholder farmers across 15 African countries.

What does it mean to be a tech first charity in 2024? For th Haller Foundation, it means understanding the opportunities that technology can help to unlock, and working to ensure that those potentials are realised.
